The Kir Royale Cocktail is perfect for any holiday – from New Year’s Eve to Valentine’s Day or even a wedding proposal – thanks to its beautiful colour and brilliant personality.

If you’ve never had a Kir Royale, you can let yourself be pampered. This sparkling cocktail of French champagne has the Crème de Cassis as its main ingredient. Crème de Cassis is a blackcurrant liqueur that gives this drink a nice red colour.

Try other holiday cocktails.

The Kir Royale is poured with champagne, making it a rather boisterous and decadent cocktail.

This cocktail actually has a sister named Kir. The Kir cocktail uses white wine instead of champagne as a blender. We both love these cocktails.

Better yet, you can easily serve this cocktail in both forms at a party. Let the guests decide whether they prefer wine or sparkling wine in their cocktail.

We use raspberries as garnish, but you can also garnish with blackcurrants, blackberries or whatever you like.

Which champagne to use

Any champagne is good for this cocktail, but we recommend Brut or dry champagne. It doesn’t have to be the most expensive bottle.

If you prefer a slightly cheaper option, choose a dry sparkling wine from another part of the world. Prosecco, cava or crémant will also work.

How to make a Kier Royale

This cocktail couldn’t be easier. Start with cold ingredients to keep the cocktail cool longer.

Pour the crème de cassis into the flute. Champagne cork. It mixes itself when you pour it, so you don’t have to stir it. If you stir it, do so gently with a cocktail stick so as not to break the bubbles. Then garnish with berries. It’s as simple as that!
