Seed Ranch Umami Reserve Hot Sauce Review

It’s an age-old question: if you had one bottle of hot sauce, which would you use? Would it be the fiery habanero? The mind-bending ghost pepper? The sweet-smelling poblano? No matter what kind of hot sauce you favor, you can love them all. But what if you could have 3 bottles instead of one?

I have a love-hate relationship with hot sauce. The heat and flavor bring me joy, but the habit is an impulsive one. I have tried to quit in the past, but always return to my sauce addiction. That’s why I was so excited to try this new sauce from Seed Ranch. Instead of a sauce that tastes great and is strong, this new sauce is mild and flavorful.

The Seed Ranch Umami Reserve is a completely new product line from Seed Ranch. It is made from all organic ingredients and it is made in small batches to ensure freshness and flavor of each sauce.

Seed Ranch Umami Reserve does not hide its merits. It is a powerful, spicy sauce with a strong umami flavor mixed with a smoky, roasted aroma. This spicy sauce has it all, but does its spiciness match its great umami flavor? And what’s the point of a sauce with such a distinct flavor? Let’s see what makes this sauce.

If you love the taste of umami, Boy Seed Ranch has the sauce for you. There are so many unique ingredients: Tamari, water, olive oil, tomato paste, capers, dried olives, white mushroom, chocolate habanero pepper, shiitake mushroom, seaweed, garlic, red miso, balsamic vinegar, white vinegar, chipotle, carrots, dates, sesame oil and cumin.

Seriously, where do you start with a list like that? In a nutshell: If you like the taste of soy sauce and mushrooms, you will love Seed Ranch Umami Reserve. I wasn’t sure I liked it, but they found a way to balance it into something that tasted, well…. sophisticated.

You will have to try this hot sauce over and over again to understand each ingredient. The first bite will give you a general taste of umami and maybe a hint of miso. After the second bite, you will be able to tell the difference between mushrooms and olives by the taste. And by the third time, you’ll taste the sharp flavor of garlic, as well as the smoky notes of habanero pepper and chocolate chipotle. Seed Ranch Umami Reserve is a tasty surprise in every bite.

As for salt, 60 mg per teaspoon, or 3% of your daily dose. There is so much going on here (in a good way) that salinity is not the first thing you think of. But with relatively little heat, you can eat several teaspoons at once. People who are watching their salt intake should keep this in mind.

Heat balance

Seed Ranch Umami Reserve has a light to medium spiciness. The spiciness range is not specified on Scoville’s scale, but there’s nothing here that will trouble most hot sauce lovers.

This may come as a surprise, as the hot sauce contains chocolate habanero peppers. And chocolate hubs are no lightweights: 425,000 to 577,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU.). They are even harder than the traditional orange habanero (100,000 to 350,000 SHU).

But here habanero chocolate is at the bottom of the list of ingredients. First and foremost, it’s there for its aroma – a lovely earthy, smoky sweetness. Chocolate habanero is the perfect combination of peppers for umami flavor in this spicy sauce.

Chipotle pepper (2,500-8,000 SHU) is also present here, but it’s at the bottom of the ingredient list. It is mainly used here for its wonderful smoky taste.

The light spice tingles the tongue, but quickly dissipates allowing the umami flavor to take center stage.

The umami power could use a little more punch. The balance of Seed Ranch’s Umami offering isn’t bad, but it’s a bit lacking. This dish can be made even spicier, especially with the use of chili.

If you’re not a fan of umami as a flavor, you probably shouldn’t buy a bottle of Umami Reserve. But even if you do, you’ll be surprised, because Seed Ranch Flavor Company’s hot sauce is pretty versatile.

It goes very well with eggs, is delicious as a flavoring for ramen or broth, and is perfect as a mixer for flavoring fresh vegetables, chips or mayonnaise-based pita chips. It is also delicious as a marinade for chicken or to give a special touch to tomato-based pasta dishes. And as a flavor enhancer for avocado toast, few things can beat it.

Even with appetizers, the Umami Seed Ranch Reserve brings that little extra to the table. I tried it with Frito chips (no judgment) and loved it. The sauce is mild enough to be used in many places if you like umami flavor.

This ingredient list alone makes Seed Ranch Umami Reserve more of a collector’s item than many other hot sauces. You can start a conversation by simply clicking on the label.

The label is between modern and classic. It’s simple, with block text and the image of a seed taking root. Honestly, this is just one example of good use of single lines and white space. Seriously, for such a simple label, it stands out from other hot sauces. It’s a sophisticated look that perfectly matches the exquisite flavors of the bottle.

On a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest)The Seed Ranch Umami Reserve is another winner from the Seed Ranch. The sauce is part of the Umami Reserve, which is a rest of the line of sauces that contains a variety of different flavor profiles. Seed Ranch makes all sorts of sauces, but the ones I like the most have the umami note. That’s a flavor that gives the dish that extra depth of flavor, and I think it’s one of the Holy Grails of culinary ingredients. The Umami Reserve features the flavors of deep, rich meats, rich cheeses, and savory sauces.. Read more about seed ranch umami scoville and let us know what you think.
