Keto is a nutrition strategy that limits your carbohydrate intake to <50 grams a day. This is achieved by cutting out all grains, sugars, and fruits, and consuming only fat, protein, and the carbs that you would need to maintain your current body weight. If you think this sounds extreme, you should know that you don't have to go completely meat-heavy to achieve a keto diet. There are a lot of options when it comes to keto food, and some of the best ones can be found in the oil-free spice aisle.

“Wait, this isn’t a low carb, keto or paleo blog, is it?” You might be asking yourself, right before you give up on dieting. Not to worry, we’re still here. In fact, we’re here to help you tackle the keto diet. Low carb should not be confused with keto, and it’s important to understand the difference, especially if you’re new to the world of low carb.

Sometimes, meals on the keto diet can seem a little boring or bland when the foods you’re cooking with don’t have any added spices or flavors (this is a good thing though, as it means you’re not eating all that processed junk!). Plus, you can buy a small amount to try at home before investing in a large container that may expire before you’re able to use it up.

1. Cinnamon and/or Cardamom

Cinnamon is such a versatile spice that can be used in so many recipes and has wonderful health benefits, too! From diabetes to pain management, an extra dash of cinnamon may help lower your bad cholesterol (LDL), reduce inflammation, give you antioxidant benefits, and much more!
