My name is Marco and I’m a chef, food blogger, and a full-blown food junkie. I’ve been living on a keto diet for 2 years now and love to test out recipes.

Start spreading the word about keto pizza!

Ever since Papa Murphy’s Pizza came out with their crustless keto pizza, I’ve been a little jealous. Unfortunately, there is no Papa Murphy’s in my Atlanta area, so I was very jealous of the keto fast food….. until now! Marco’s Pizza recently started having crustless pizzas, and folks, I’m all for it!

And like Papa Murphy’s crustless pizza, these pizza shells are technically pizza pans – but they’re so delicious and a great way to keep family pizza night keto!

If you are not familiar with Marco’s Pizza, you should know that it has several locations in the United States, mainly in the Midwest and in the southern states. Their traditional pizza is very tasty. With these pizza shells, you get the taste of pizza without the added carbs!

Here are the menu options for Marco’s Pizza Bowl without crust:

Pizza shell without meat crust

Serving: 1/2 bowl | 710 calories | Fat: 54 g | Total carbs: 14 g | Protein: 46 g | Fiber: 1 g | Sugar: 5 g | Net carbs: 13 g
(see our hack below to make this bowl with about 7 g net carbs per serving).

Pizza without crust with pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage and bacon, topped with original sauce and the three characteristic cheeses, flavoured with Romesan (parmesan herbs with Italian herbs and spices).

This is my favorite pizza shell from Marco’s! It has all the meat I normally order for a pizza and is very hearty. I usually make my bowl serve four meals and add a salad for satiety.

Pizzas skin without crust

Serving: 1/2 bowl 580 calories Fat: 44 grams Total carbs: 17 grams Protein: 34 grams Fiber: 2 grams Sugar: 6 grams Net carbs: 15 grams
(see our tip below to make this bowl about 9 grams of net carbs per serving).

Crustless pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions, topped with original sauce and signature three cheeses, topped with Romesco seasoning.

If you like peppers and onions, this dish is for you! It reminds me of a sandwich I once ate, and it’s very tasty and spicy.

Pizzas skin without crust

Serving: 1/2 bowl 540 calories Fat: 40 grams Total carbohydrates: 19 grams Protein: 28 grams Fiber: 2 grams Sugar: 8 grams Net carbs: 17 grams
(see our tip below to make this bowl about 11 grams of net carbs per serving).

Pizza without crust with sliced mushrooms, olives, onions and tomatoes, baked with the original sauce and the three characteristic cheeses, plus feta, spicy romesco and garlic sauce.

If you don’t want meat, Marco’s offers crustless pizzas. My daughter loves to order this extra bowl with olives and mushrooms!

While 13-17 grams of net carbs is a lot compared to a regular pizza, it’s still a great low-carb option. If you want to save even more carbs, ask if the pizza is sauce free! I make this and add cheese and I really don’t miss the sauce.

When you remove the sauce from the bowl, you lose 4-5 grams of sugar and save about 6 grams of carbs, bringing the net carb count to 7-11 grams, which is pretty good, if you ask me! You can also remove the onions in the garden bowl to reduce the carbs.

Thigh tip: Marco’s restaurant website has a handy meal calculator that adjusts macros based on what you add or leave out of a dish. Note that keto bowls are not currently available on the calculator, but most keto menu items, including cooked meatballs, salads and wings, are available.

But wait… there’s more!

Marco’s also offers a side dish of meatballs, which I ordered well before the introduction of pizza shells. It’s basically the same as a pizza without the crust, consisting of meatballs, cheese and sauce. Their meatballs contain no fillers (like breadcrumbs), and you can ask for a light sauce or no sauce to make them even more keto friendly – and they are so delicious!

Serving size: 1/2 serving | 880 calories | fat: 68 g total carbohydrates: 19 g protein: 55 g fiber: 3 g sugar 4 g net carbs 16 g

*If you don’t use sauce, the net carbohydrate per serving drops to 11 g, or half a serving. I usually only eat a quarter of the pan because the dish is so hearty, which brings it down to 5.5 carbs, I add a small salad and it’s a delicious low-carb meal.

What if you want to eat at Marco’s wings while on a keto diet?

Well, you’re in luck! Marco’s has two delicious chicken wings to choose from, each with only one net carbohydrate! YES! Oh, how I love chicken wings, they are so delicious and it almost feels like cheating, but it’s not!

Spicy Chicken Wings

Serving size: 1 wing | 100 calories | fat: 7g total carbohydrates: 1g protein: 8g fiber: 0g sugar 0g net carbs 1g

Normal chicken wings

Serving size: 1 wing | 100 calories | fat: 7g total carbohydrates: 1g protein: 8g fiber: 0g sugar 0g net carbs 1g
