Low-Carb Sesame Crispbread – Recipe

Sesame Crispbread: This is my low-carb version of the beloved (and carb-heavy) Sesame Noodles. This recipe is dairy-free, but I haven’t tested it with any other substitutions. Like many low-carb recipes, this one gets its sweetness from a touch of maple syrup.

Sesame seeds are packed with nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, and B6. These nutrients are crucial to healthy nerve transmission and supporting our immune system. And, sesame seeds contain a type of plant-based omega fatty acid called sesamin that can help balance out our fats and keep our cholesterol levels under control.

There are few things I hate more than eating a slice of stale, dry bread. No matter how good it tastes, it always brings back bad memories of school lunches and the smell of stale bread still lingers in the recesses of my mind.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Using parchment paper, line a 13″x18″ (33×46 cm) baking pan.

  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients and whisk to incorporate. Spread the mixture onto the parchment paper (approximately 1/8″ thick or 3.1 mm), season with sea salt, and bake for 20 minutes.

  3. Remove the crispbread from the oven and cut it into the shape you want.

  4. Reduce the oven temperature to 275°F (135°C) and bake the crispbread for another 30-40 minutes, or until gently brown in color.

  5. Check the crispbread for any wet spots and make sure it is totally dry. Keep it warm in the oven with the door slightly ajar until it cools down.
