Cabbage casserole with low carbs

This creamy and cheesy low-carb dish takes cabbage to a new level of deliciousness. You’ve just discovered your new cruciferous fix!

Medium (10 + 35 m)

12g

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). A 13 x 9″ (33 x 23 cm) baking dish should be greased.

  2. Using a sharp knife, a mandolin slicer, or a food processor, shred the green cabbage.

  3. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter. 8-10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender, fry the cabbage, onion, and garlic. Combine the heavy cream, sour cream, cream cheese, and seasonings in a mixing bowl. Reduce the heat to medium-low, mix together, and cook, uncovered, for 5-10 minutes, or until everything is smooth and creamy.

  4. Sprinkle the cheese on top of the mixture in the baking dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes, uncovered, on the center rack, or until the cheese is melted and gently browned. Allow 5 minutes to cool before serving.

Tip!

These complex tastes go well with grilled (or fried) meats and seafood. Make a double batch and freeze the leftovers in tiny containers for a fast weeknight side dish. Use pre-shredded coleslaw to save even more time – but avoid carrot-based mixtures if possible.
