When I began collecting recipes from my favorite blogs, I found myself spending a lot of time deciding which ones to include on my food blog. I eventually decided to organize all the recipes into a “recipe book” or a “cookbook” as I like to call it. So, I decided to start including a recipe for every blog post, which I proceeded to call “Recipes for the Forthcoming Blog Post”.

Fried Green tomatoes are a Southern favorite. While the tomatoes themselves are a staple in many kitchens, the technique used to make them is nothing short of a miracle. All you do is fry the green tomatoes with a little olive oil, salt and pepper and then plop them onto a plate with a little tomato sauce.

“Fried Green Tomatoes” has long been one of my favorite films. I recall how eager I was to try Idgie’s fried green tomatoes from her restaurant. It’s only fair that I give you my take on this southern classic.

It’s critical to choose firm tomatoes. This keeps the tomatoes fresh and prevents them from becoming too mushy after frying. Green tomatoes have a sour taste. To cut the tang, I prefer to add a pinch of granulated sugar.

We must salt the slices and put them on paper towels to ensure that the breading adheres to the tomatoes. Allow them to take a break. All of the water will soak into the paper towels. This will make the fried green tomatoes crispier.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce as a snack or appetizer. Alternatively, serve them with Crawfish Alfredo or Crawfish Étouffée. Please believe me when I say this. Just go for it.

Good luck in the kitchen,

B. Coop
