The other day I was making this beef noodle casserole and I wanted to share it with you. I have never cooked or made anything like this before so I really didn’t know what to expect. But by golly, if it wasn’t the best recipe I have ever made!

In many families, comfort foods like this simple beef noodle casserole are favorites. Beef noodle casserole is a substantial main meal that will help keep the cold at bay during the chilly winter months. It is rich and creamy. This delicious casserole, prepared with pasta, ground beef, tomato, sour cream, cottage cheese, and cheddar, is ideal for nights when you want to offer a warm dinner made with basic ingredients that don’t compromise on taste. Beef noodle casserole has the flavor of handmade lasagna but requires much less effort. It’s no surprise that so many people like it.

Recipe for Beef Noodle Casserole

The ease with which beef casseroles may be prepared and cooked is one of the reasons why so many home chefs like them. Cook the pasta to al dente while preheating the oven so it has the soft yet firm texture that makes a great-tasting noodle casserole. Drain the water and put it aside.

Cook the ground beef until it loses its pink color, then drain any extra fat before adding the tomato sauce, garlic salt, and pepper. Reduce the mixture just enough to thicken it slightly. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cottage cheese, Parmesan, and green onions, then toss in the pasta to coat it in the creamy deliciousness.

Half of the pasta should be poured into a buttered casserole dish, then half of the beef mixture should be ladled over it and half of the cheddar cheese should be sprinkled on top, and so on. Bake for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the dish is well cooked. Don’t forget to top it with green onions or chives that have been freshly cut!

Cooking Instructions for the Best Beef Noodle Casserole

– Be careful not to overcook your pasta. It has to be al dente. The spaghetti may turn mushy if overcooked.

– Instead of pasta, egg noodles may be used in this dish.

– Beef noodle casserole is a wonderful dish to prepare ahead of time. It may be made up to a day ahead of time, or you can prepare the beef and sour cream combination up to two days ahead of time, then boil the pasta and assemble the casserole on the day you want to serve it.

– Make your beef noodle casserole more interesting by adding veggies, fresh herbs, or a dash of spice from chili flakes.

– You may use a variety of cheeses, such as mozzarella, Swiss, Monterey Jack, or a mix of cheeses, or substitute a can of soup for the tomato sauce. Substitutes like cream of mushroom and French onion are very delicious.

— Instead of cottage cheese, use ricotta for a creamier dish.

Beef Noodle Casserole Storage

Refrigerate leftover beef casserole covered in cling film for up to 3 days. Pasta does not store well, however beef noodle casserole may be frozen for up to one month if needed. The beef noodle casserole may be frozen uncooked but assembled for up to 3 months.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Set aside a casserole dish that has been greased with cooking spray.

Cook the pasta until it is al dente, approximately 10 to 11 minutes, according to the package instructions. Drain.

Cook the meat for 5 to 7 minutes over medium-high heat, or until browned. Remove any extra fat. Pour in the tomato sauce, garlic salt, and pepper, swirl to combine, and cook for a few minutes, or until the sauce thickens.

In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, Parmesan, and 12 cup green onions. Toss in the pasta and toss to combine.

Half of the spaghetti mixture should be poured into the casserole dish. The beef mixture should be layered over the spaghetti, and then 34 cup of cheddar cheese should be sprinkled on top. Repeat with the remaining spaghetti, meat, and cheese in the same sequence. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the dish is well cooked. Serve with green onions as a garnish.
